type of thing: book

every review for bunny is legally obligated to say it's like the heathers meets the craft, but weird™. and like, sure, that's true. the main character's middle name is heather and that can't be a coincidence. but reading reviews is gonna give you a distorted vision of what to expect with bunny. for one, it's not that weird; the narrative is completely linear. for two, it's actually a love story? about the creative process?

my review got too complicated because i liked this book too much. i have a very long text file on my computer with all my thoughts so if you do read it, please let me know because i have things 2 say.

bunny is straightforwardly about being an outsider who gets an invitation to be one of the cool girls (add mean girls to the list of teen movie comparisons). it quickly goes off the rails, but it can really be condensed to just that. it's also about leaving the in group to reunite with your best friend/lover/other half. that part is really good, and that central relationship is what made me read the book THREE TIMES. and it's also about the mysterious, sexy, yet evil boy who lives inside all of us, and possibly is us? maybe i'm projecting here.
